Edward Enninful will receive the “Isabella Blow Award” for Fashion Creator at this year’s British Fashion Awards for his contribution and influence on the global fashion industry.
“Edward’s creative energy and level of vision captures the mood of our times – his work is original, energetic, sincere and unforgettable. His creative journey may have started in London, but today his influence spans the entire globe intersecting the worlds of fashion, art and business” – Natalie Massenet MBE, Chairman of the British Fashion Council.
Enninful started in the fashion world in a really EARLY age, at the age of 18 he took the position of fashion director for i-D magazine, that made him the youngest ever fashion director of an international magazine.

He became very known for his edgy elegance and risky personality, his own trademark nowadays. He said much of his inspiration came from the streets:
“We British have to customize our clothes, we have to be more creative, informing who you are—and I am still obsessed with the streets.”said Enninful.
And most of his editorials were full inspired by Grunge movement on 90’s.
He became a contributing editor to Italian Vogue in 1998, and later in 2006 he became contribution fashion editor for American Issue also.
One of the most famour productions was the “Black Issue”, which featured only black models, including Naomi Campbell, Jourdan Dunn and Alek Wek. The issue was so successful that Condé Nast had to print an extra 40,000 copies.

Or the one of June 2011 cover editorial, “Belle Vere”, which exclusively featured plus sized models including Tara Lynn, Candice Huffine, and Robyn Lawley.

W Magazine announced in April 2011 Enninful took over as fashion and style director of W and ended his 10 years relationship as freelancer at American and Italian Vogue.
He was in charge of one of the most risky and famous cover shot (March 2012) based on a cover of Kate Moss depicted as a nun.

Along with his extensive editorial work, Enninful has shaped numerous advertising campaigns and runway shows including Comme des Garçons, Christian Dior, Dolce & Gabbana, Celine, Lanvin, Mulberry, Adidas, Y-3, Giorgio Armani, Valentino, Jil Sander, Calvin Klein, Fendi, Alessandro Dell’Acqua, Reed Krakoff, Strenesse, Gap, Hugo Boss, Missoni, Alberta Ferretti and H&M.
