Pharrell Williams takes fashion very seriously and is one of the select few able to prescribe masculine style. His Vivienne Westwood’s hat is already an inseparable icon of him and his charisma .
The “Happy” rapper has decided to cross the barrier to the design and launch of a line in collaboration with legendary denim brand G-Star. “The oceans need us now,” says Pharrell, explaining his latest project, which will see G-Star team up with eco fabrics company Bionic Yarn, which produces fibers made from recycled plastic collected from the ocean.
As the Creative Director of Bionic Yarn, Pharrell announced the collaboration in American Museum of Natural History in NYC, which will see G-Star release special collections under the name of ‘RAW for the Oceans’.
“Working with G-Star was an obvious choice, because they have a legacy of pushing the boundaries of fashion and denim forward,” explained Pharrell. “Bionic Yarn is a company built around performance, and denim is the perfect category to show the world what Bionic Yarn can do. Everyone has jeans in their closet.”
Pharrell likes to take risks with fashion in every way. At his extreme outfits now adds this so unusual project. The clothes will be available at stores G-Star this summer. Take a look at this advertising campaign of “RAW for the Oceans”:
