Travelling to London is always a lot of fun. There’s so much to do there and I love having a unique experience each time I go along. However, dressing right can sometimes be an issue. I thought I’d share my tips on what to wear with you so you can have the best time!
London is the capital of the UK, and full of diverse people. I think it’s the perfect excuse to dress up and put one of your best outfits together. Treat every day like it’s a special occasion. You don’t have to cover yourself in makeup, but you could take a little extra time to put your outfit together that day. You never know who you might run into in London! You could meet your favourite celebrity or get model scouted, who knows? London travel on the tube can make you feel a little gross, like when you’re on the tube and things, so make sure you take sanitiser gel and wipes too.
I think the key to enjoying London to the full is wearing comfortable shoes. I wore shoes I thought would be comfortable once, only to get half a mile away from my hotel and realise they were crippling me. Make sure you know the shoes you’re wearing are comfortable, don’t just assume. You can then enjoy London with no painful distractions. You could even invest in some comfortable gel soles to give your feet a treat!
Layers in London are an absolute must. You never know what the weather is going to be like, so you have to wear layers to take away and add to your outfit as you see fit. Layering also makes for a more interesting outfit, so it’s worth doing regardless. If you’re unsure of how to get started, there are a load of layering tutorials online. Here are some of my favourite layering tips to help you:
Always balance your outfits. You don’t want to be drowned in fabric.
Play with different textures to create interest.
Play with different shapes.
Flatter your figure.
Have fun and experiment.
Don’t be afraid to clash colours and patterns – it is London after all!
Use Pinterest, Instagram and blogs for inspiration.
I know a lot of Londoners who take their sunglasses and umbrellas out with them at the same time. The weather really can be that temperamental, so don’t underestimate it. Sunglasses aren’t just a fashion accessory, they protect your eyes from the bright sun. It doesn’t hurt to always have a trusty umbrella in your bag either. Trust me, you’ll wish you had taken them both when you go there!
I hope this post has helped you work out what to wear for your trip to London. I always find it really exciting putting a nice outfit together that I know I’m going to look great in, but feel comfortable too. Do you have any specific ideas? Leave a comment below, I’d love to hear it!
